Ive revamped this one just to try to make it look better. Changed the fonts and added some stuff. I also did some work in photoshop, which I must say is a confusing piece of softwear.

The rest is the same:

Fraternitatis Super Imperium

Brotherhood Over Empire

In this timeline, the British government decides, following the Napoleonic wars, to pursue a more even colonial policy, with the goal that no colony should be so important to the home economy that its being cut off would cripple the empire, and that those colonies should be able to defend themselves in the event of war so that Britain may be free to do what she must for victory.
(Thanks to:iconkurarun: for the idea)
As a result of this policy, Britain gives no quarter in her border negotiations with rivals, especially the United States. Britain creates the colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia out of the area it holds, leaving the northern portion of OTL BC as part of Rupert's Land. War is only narrowly averted after calls for a war over that small corner of the country are shouted down in congress, straining tensions in an already divided nation.
The border dispute between Ontario and Manitoba is settled in favour of Manitoba, many pointing to the need to balance the large populations of the eastern provinces. Since the territory in question was a part of the Distric of Keewatin, a semi-independant area in the Northwest Territories, the entire territory is redistricted. This is considered an important even, because this matter when taken to the British government, is left to the Canadian Parliament, rather than a Privy Council.
When the Alaska border comes into dispute after the confederation of Canada (an act used as model by London in later years to help strengthen the empire), Canadian diplomats are given a "bank cheque" by the British, leaving the Americans once again frustrated by an unwillingness to budge on the part of the northerners, and an unwillingness to go to war again so soon after the terrible bloodletting that had just occurred during their civil war.
As population increases in the west after discoveries of gold in the north-west, two new territories are created. First the district of New Caledonia is made a separate territory, followed by the district of Yukon, to help administrate the influx of American gold seekers.
By 1900, the southern area of the Northwest territories is an amalgamation of districts, and a proposal is made to separate them as a new province. Despite a frosty relationship with the federal government, the premier of the Northwest Territories successfully proposes the province of Buffalo, incorporating the southern half of the districts. The proposal is almost abandoned when the cities of Calgary and Edmonton refuse to agree to Regina as the capital, but a compromise is reached with Calgary becoming the capital. Shortly thereafter, The northern borders of Ontario and Quebec are moved north to "create more geographical equality between east and west", though in reality the border of Quebec is not brought up to "The Province Line", as it is sometimes called (approx. 55 30' n). This move is widely criticized in Quebec and leads to quite a bit of grumbling by the residents of that province.
At the treaty of Versaille, the British government invites deligates from "the Commonwealth" as it is now widely referred to. Shortly thereafter, the British West Indies are offered membership within Canadian Confederation, partially as reward for that nation's support in the Great War, but also because the nations of that region attempts at political unification had been stalled for a number of years, prior even to the outbreak of war itself. After and overwhelming majority votes to join the confederation, the island colonies are admited as "Crown Protectorates" until they are organized into three provinces several years later.
In the mid 20s, the Dominion of Newfoundland, which despite prodding from London refused to join Canada, comes into conflict with the latter over the inland border of Labrador, which had been in Canadian possession prior to 1809. The Privy council decides to adopt the compromise proposed by the Canadian government, using the coastal watershed, until Rivere du Petit Mecatina, which marks the boundary until the sea. This border is very close to the Quebec government had proposed, helping to make up for the provincial boundary fiasco more than a decade earlier, but what is more, it further solidifies Britain's relationship with Canada, a relationship that sets an example for the other nations of the Empire: not one of a capitol and its subject, but one of strong equals and allies. Fraternity over Empire.

Im doing a map, in my Central America Universe, of the Dominion of Canada. Basically Canada loses more of the Columbia District to the USA and Vancouver Island, but it gains Alaska. It does lose Newfoundland & Labrador, but Quebec wins the dispute. I already have its inner borders all thought up but I need help with one thing.

Because of Central American expansionism in the Caribbean, the British government pushes for its West Indies colonies to join the confederation. I noticed that you left out the Bahamas, Belize (part of CA in my timeline), and on a smaller note, Guyana. Why?

I incorporated the West Indies Federation from OTL for that: [link]
Maybe those nations (Belize, the Bahamas and Guyana) would join the West Indies and that would be its own Dominion?

Do you know why the Bahamas didnt join the federation?

Looks like The Bahamas was looking for independance, while the others were hoping for association with N America.

Do you think that the Bahamas would ever become a Canadian provice, specifically in a world where the British colonial government fears annexation from both a Central American/Caribbean power and the USA?

Idea: Since you're eventually gonna do an Australia map, you could have West Australia be its own dominion (like Newfoundland) and compensate by having New Zealand, Papau, New Guinea, and the British south Pacific island dependencies join the origional confederation.
In fact I really REALLY like that idea. Please take it into consideration 3:

Even though it drastically decreases the size of Australia, its still a good concept
